In July 2025, GKI conducted a survey among companies on the spread of artificial intelligence, which received responses from 390 firms. Which sectors’ markets are being transformed by AI? Do companies trust artificial intelligence, and are they able to use it in their everyday operations? These were the questions we sought to answer.
According to the surveyed companies, 45% believe that AI had no impact on their market over the past three years, while a further 23% stated that artificial intelligence had only a moderate effect. 19% of domestic companies reported a medium impact, 9% a strong impact, and only 3% said that the new technology had completely transformed their market.

A clear difference can be observed between sectors: AI has had a stronger impact in the service sector and commerce, while in industry and construction its effect has been much more moderate. In the service sector, nearly half of the respondents perceive the effects of AI, with 22% reporting a significant or complete market transformation. In commerce, many also experience the impact of AI (41%) at least at a medium level, with 13% reporting a substantial or complete market transformation.
The situation is different in industry: for nearly 60% of respondents, AI had no impact on their market at all, and only 6% reported a strong or very strong effect. In construction, more than 60% do not believe that artificial intelligence has transformed their market, while 13% reported a significant impact.
8% of the responding companies believe that artificial intelligence can be utilized in almost all activities, while a further 16% think it can be applied to most tasks. 38% see a medium level of applicability, 25% only a small extent, and 13% do not consider it usable in their operations at all. Thus, for most companies, the new technology is at least partially usable. This represents a huge market potential for AI development companies.
Company leaders most often believe that AI can be applied to most tasks in the service sector (37%). In commerce, this proportion is 20%, in industry 15%, and in construction 8%.

Opinions among company leaders are divided regarding the reliability of artificial intelligence. 9% believe that AI-generated content is not reliable at all, and 19% are slightly pessimistic. The majority of respondents (47%) take a neutral stance on the issue, while 22% are moderately optimistic. Interestingly, only 2% stated that they find content created with the help of artificial intelligence fully reliable.
According to our results, the differences between industries can mainly be explained by sector-specific characteristics: AI is used only to a small extent in industry and construction not because company leaders’ attitudes differ from those of their counterparts in other sectors, but because the nature of the activities themselves limits its adoption.
In the Hungarian economy, a dual-speed AI revolution is underway: while the service sector is already moving in the fast lane, industry and construction are currently observing from the slow lane. According to GKI’s recent survey, nearly half of the companies (45%) have not felt any market impact, and trust in the technology is generally low, with only 2% of companies fully relying on AI. The sectoral gap is highlighted by the fact that 22% of service companies report significant market transformation, whereas nearly 60% of industrial and construction companies believe that AI has had no effect on their markets. The slower adoption is not due to resistance from leadership but to the nature of the activities themselves, which also points to the biggest challenges and opportunities for future growth.
